Effective Date:

1. Purpose

Building Blocks is a nonprofit organization centered in Tupelo, MS that accepts donations of new and gently used building supplies and sells them to the public to support our mission of supporting our community. Because many of our items are donated and sold at deeply discounted prices, our ability to offer refunds and returns is limited. This policy explains when returns and refunds are available.


2. Scope

This policy applies to all purchases made from Building Blocks in Tupelo, MS, whether at our retail location, off-site sales events, or through any official sales channels operated by the organization.


3. General Policy

  • Items purchased new-in-box (i.e., in their original, unopened manufacturer packaging) may be eligible for return for store credit or an identical item in exchange, as outlined in Section 4.
  • Items purchased outside of their original box (including used, open-box, salvaged, or repackaged materials) cannot be returned and are considered final sale.
  • Donations to Building Blocks are not eligible for refunds under any circumstances.

4. Returns of New-in-Box Items

Building Blocks accepts returns of items that meet all of the following criteria:

  1. New-in-box condition
    • Item was purchased in its original, unopened manufacturer packaging.
    • Packaging is still intact, with all original components, manuals, and accessories included.
  2. Timeframe
    • Returns must be initiated within 5 calendar days of the purchase date printed on the receipt.
  3. Proof of purchase
    • An original sales receipt, invoice, or other acceptable proof of purchase from Building Blocks is required.
    • Returns may be declined or, at the sole discretion of management, may be eligible only for store credit.
  4. Condition
    • Items must be unused and in resalable condition.
    • Building Blocks reserves the right to inspect all items prior to approving a return.

5. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for return or refund:

  • Any item purchased outside of its original box, including:
    • Loose or bulk building materials
    • Used or gently used items
    • Items repackaged by Building Blocks (not in original manufacturer packaging)
  • Items marked “AS IS,” “FINAL SALE,” “NO RETURNS,” or similar language on signage or receipts
  • Cut-to-size, custom, or special-order items (if applicable)
  • Gift cards or store credits
  • Donations

All non-returnable items are sold AS IS with no warranties or guarantees, express or implied.


6. Refund Method

For approved returns of eligible new-in-box items:

  • Store credit
    • If the original payment method cannot reasonably be used (for example, if a card issuer declines the refund), Building Blocks may issue a store credit instead.
  • Processing time
    • Please allow a reasonable processing period for refunds to appear on your account, depending on your bank or card issuer.

7. Defective New-in-Box Items

If a new-in-box item appears defective upon opening:

  1. Timeframe
    • Notify Building Blocks within 5 calendar days of purchase.
  2. Evaluation
    • Staff may inspect the item to determine whether it is defective and whether the issue is due to manufacturing, damage in storage/transport, or misuse.
  3. Remedies
    • At Building Blocks’ discretion, and subject to inventory availability, one of the following may be offered:
      • Exchange for the same or comparable item; or
      • Store credit.

Because many items are donated, manufacturer warranties may not apply or may be limited. Any applicable manufacturer warranty is between the customer and the manufacturer.


8. Items Sold As-Is

Most used and out-of-box items are sold AS IS, with the understanding that:

  • These items may show signs of wear, age, or prior use.
  • Building Blocks does not guarantee suitability for any particular purpose.
  • Customers are encouraged to carefully inspect items before purchase.
  • No returns, refunds, or exchanges are offered for these items.

9. Return Process

To request a return for an eligible new-in-box item:

  1. Send us an email with “RETURN” in the subject header at support@buildingblockstupelo. org. If this was an online order, we will inform you of the next steps to ship your item.
  2. If possible, bring the item, in its original packaging, to the store location.
  3. Present your original receipt or other proof of purchase.
  4. Inform a staff member that you would like to request a return.
  5. Staff will review the request, inspect the item, and determine eligibility in accordance with this policy.

Building Blocks reserves the right to decline a return that does not meet the requirements outlined in this policy.


10. Policy Changes

Building Blocks Tupelo may modify or update this Refunds and Returns Policy at any time. The version posted at our store and/or on our official website will be the current governing version.
